Mick Fynn
Mick – or ‘Umbuyazi’, is a sixth generation South African, a descendant of Henry Francis Fynn, conficante of Zulu chief Shaka. He lived much of his childhood in the African Bush.
His 30 years experience in the corporate world included 18 years at SAB, 10 years at packaging group Kohler, and time retailing group Woolworths. He sat on the boards of the international companies Crown Cork, Kimberley Clark and Kohler Packaging and was founder and chairman of Kohler Link, a black empowerment company.
He has an BA in psychology, an MBL and post grad marketing degree from Columbia University. He is also a founding trustee of the St Augustine University.
Mick brings a unique perspective to strategy development, using an eclectic mix of African metaphors, bush law together with local and international models to challenge individuals to find inner meaning or their leadership ‘roots’ and unlock their leadership potential or ‘fruits’.
The name ‘Umbuyazi’ was given to Mick’s family by Shaka 180 years ago, and means ‘to come away knowing more’.
